The New Power-Woman: Altuzarra SS13

I know it's way to early to be picking favourites and highlights, but this show put a big smile on my face.

The first part of the show is inspired by a film called Orlando about a man who wakes up one morning to find he's changed into a woman. How does this translate to the runway? Joseph Altuzarra used traditionally masculine fabrics and made them into very feminine outfits. When I say feminine I'm not talking about a girly girl - I'm talking about a cut-throat power player. The kind of woman who's arms go from her jacket into her pocket without touching the jacket sleeves.

The second part, a continuation of AW12, experimented with embellishment. Tassels and other shiny things elegantly bedazzled previously mentioned power woman's evening-wear. The collection was strong, sharp, tailored, and innovative.

What's not to like?

(oh, and suddenly gladiators aren't looking so Joberg tacky anymore)
