Hold It Together. Christopher Kane SS13

In the first few looks it almost went unnoticed. Then you see: something isn't quite normal with those pants. And then it hits you: these clothes are being held together by plastic screws. That's right Christopher Kane is doing Frankenstein.

Out with old dress fastenings, in with nuts and bolts as Kane calls them. The construction of the clothes were done in a way that could only have been him, the hard lines and subject matter being contrasted by soft colours and beautiful bows. His use of jelly rubber, especially the way it was weaved in that white (and almost transparent) skirt suit also deserve a mention.

But of all the stunning closing numbers we've seen in London so far, none quite match the ambiguous brilliance of the dresses and separates that had lace and jewels taped onto them. I really don't think it gets any more modern than that. It's the kind of design that'll make you so happy you'll look at it over and over again before proposing marriage to the designer on your BBM status. Or maybe that's just me.
