The Most Wanted Of Them All: Céline Cruise 13

Pheobe Philo knows exactly what her customers want and she's not about to deviate from her winning vision. For Cruise 13, a lot of emphasis is being placed on a great pair of trousers. The message (also from Stella McCartney) is pretty clear: keep them wide, keep them loose, and look for a unique design that will bring out your quirky side.

Other heroes in this collection include what Philo has done with draping on blouses and that black and white dress, a little leopard, amazing coats, and of course the ultimate status symbol: a Céline bag.

The Future: Prabal Gurung Cruise 13

I have a (now not so) secret hope for the spring collections: I think it would be great if designers can let go of fashion's nostalgic trip and begin to create something new. In many little ways this has already started happening, and now with Prabal Gurung's Cruise 13 collection I'm feeling more and more confident that fashion is on the edge of a breakthrough.

As is the norm with Prabal, things are very clean cut. Wonderful combinations of different textures and edgy cuts made the collection stand out. The prints are also something well worth mentioning: those origami-inspired shapes that were filled in with different wood textures (you'll know it when you see it) are my favourite. And instead of using predictable florals, Gurung opted for (very cruise) palm trees. All that, some peplum, a dazzling series of evening dresses, and some slightly tribal footware... This is a great start to the bright future I'm looking forward to.

Big VOGUE Cover News

 

Pardon the bad quality, but this Emma Stone US Vogue July 2012 cover (photographed by Mario Testino) was literally leaked within the past few hours. So this really is a first look at Stone's Vogue cover debut. It was only a matter of time - she's been featured in the magazine frequently over the past year, and now with Spider Man coming out there will be no denying her star status.

I'm quite excited to see the contents of this issue - it's the first look at the Fall collections! And speaking of fall, it has been confirmed that the one and only Lady Gaga will be covering the September issue of US VOGUE just as her new perfume Monster gets released. That will be her second Vogue cover after fronting their March fashion issue last year. A VOGUE GAGA cover once a year? I'm completely fine with that!

Stellalicious: Stella McCartney Cruise 13

I love it when a classy designer like Stella McCartney shows you how to pull off a traditionally tacky look like leopard print. Her Cruise 13 collection gives you 4 ways to wear the Jerseylicious look while still looking your respectable self. Check it out...

Go big with a statement coat, keeping the rest sporty minimal with loose trousers and chunky heels.

Wear it as a shirt over a soft white dress, adding a pop of colour with your heels.

Wear it with bold yellow trousers like these, but take caution: they must be loose fitting, and that material has some sort of Indian pattern on it - all contributing towards giving the look the class it needs.

This one is the most risky (and, naturally, my favourite) to pull off. As you can see, all you need to do is make sure that everything you're wearing matches. That's all.

If these looks haven't quite convinced you, or if you're feeling to scared to sacrifice your image by trying them (I don't blame you) then some of these other looks might tickle your fancy. Stella kept things simple with pretty pastels, slowy fading into a series of beautiful white dresses. But then let's not forget that sexy black number and that minimal off-white dress with the metallic heels... These are looks just waiting to be worn.

Kristen Stewart's Big Break

Everyone's favourite awkward/anti-Hollywood/Snow White/Vampire star Kristen Stewart has made it onto the cover of Vanity Fair July 2012. This one more than makes up for the US ELLE disaster. Not only is the cover quite striking but the spread inside (photographed by Mario Testino) is nothing short of spectacular.

It seems the magazine had the choice to put an iconic photo of Pitt, Streep and Cruise on their cover - and yet they went with Stewart. The shoot shows her going about her day in fabulous couture and chilling with Karl Lagerfeld. It's not just the clothes, locations and Lagerfeld that make this shoot special... Kristen has a new air of confidence and power about her. This isn't just another shoot - it's the birth of a fashion star.
