Dress Me Up Like I'm A Domino. Fendi SS13

Whatever game Milan fashion has been playing since Versus continued at Fendi. Trust Karl Lagerfeld to be the one to understand (other than Miuccia) the appeal of wearing fur in spring.

This collection was a brilliant showcase of colour blocking, adding dimension with cut and texture. Those domino bags were incredible, and UK ELLE Editor In Chief Lorraine Candy tweeted the shoes to be her favourite of the season.

Sound good? Well that's not all! The show concluded with the most wonderfully constructed cosmic-print dresses and then some glamorous sequinned evening-wear that'll make you want to marry the night.

A perfect show in my opinion.

A Shoe In On AW12

This season there aren't any shoes with leather flames on the back, but lightning doesn't strike the same please twice either. AW12 has produced some seriously loud statement heels, many of which are so meticulously crafted you could simply display on your mantlepiece... But what would be the fun in that?

My relationship with womenswear shoes is doomed because I can never wear them. Of course, it never hurts to look. These are the shoes worth looking at.

These boots are made for matching. (your skirt).

Milan Collections AW12

The ladies on the Milan runways were dressed to the nines. So here are my nine Milan favourites. And let's not forget to acknowledge the hands that dressed them.

Dim the lights, wear your Gucci.

Animals Were Harmed In The Making Of This Show: Fendi AW12

“Antelope, goat, mink, crocodile – one bright yellow shaggy coat, modelled by Joan Smalls, even meant Big Bird was no more” reports UK VOGUE’s Dolly Jones. This brings up an issue I have no interest in blogging about… but it deserves to be mentioned. Moving on…

When the Fendi woman wasn’t all furry and fabulous, she worked a strong silhouette with her big statement belt. Karl Lagerfeld got extra inventive by giving some of the items a surprise panel in a different fabric – a highlight. It was a very strong show: the clothes may come and go but those shoes are forever.

The SAG Verdict

I’m not a big fan of award show gowns: in general they tend to look a little tacky. Last night’s SAG awards didn’t turn out any show stoppers (except perhaps for Lea Michele) but here are the dresses that get my nod of approval. Love them, hate them, copy them for your matric farewell… whatever.

I’m a huge fan of Zac Posen evening wear. His dresses have just the right amount of drama without being tacky. Amber Heard wears it well.

This Pucci dress is a lovely statement of minimalism. It keeps Kyra Sedgwick looking sophisticated and has a decidedly sexy air to it, all at the same time.

Naya Rivera looks like a vintage perfume bottle that belongs to some aristocrat from the previous century in this Naeem Kahn dress. (Yes, that is the strangest compliment I’ve ever dished out.)

Michelle Williams and Valentino go so well together. So effortlessly charismatic. Just lovely.

This is Rose Byrne in Elie Saab. It’s cool because it’s not a dress.

Okay, HOW amazing does Lea Michele look in this Atelier Versace dress and Fendi clutch.  I give this a big, fat, fashionable stamp of approval.
