I Heart Louise Gray SS13
Minimalists, avert your eyes! (Actually don't, I'll explain why in a minute.)
Who better to bring a little (okay, a lot!) of fun into our fashion lives than Louise Gray? Her latest collection of mad-cap print mish-mash and crazy amazing hats stole my heart and made it jump for joy. To address the wearability issue (minimalists, listen up...) I must remind you to look at every item of clothing separately - chances are you'll see something that will appeal to your taste.
My highlights include those eyebrows, the stockings, and those superfabulousmegafantasticawesome hats! I want that speech-bubble hat. I want to put it on my head and never ever ever ever take it off!

Revved Up. Calvin Klein SS13
Sex, intellectuals, and cars. Sounds odd together, right? Well...
If we're talking hemlines, this is one of the most revealing Klein collections to date. The new Calvin Klein woman oozes sexuality whether she's in a short dress or a modest skirt and blouse.
Don't let her provocative nature fool you, this woman has brains (she wears a trouser suit for goodness sake). There are a lot of classic workwear pieces in this collection that fit into a "minimally timeless" category that will not only slot well into your closet, but will enhance it.
These were not cars in a literal Prada sense. The automobile trend is revived this season with design elements in the peplum and the round bratop styles. This takes cars to a whole new level of cool.
All three element sound great, no? But you may still be a little confused as to how they go together. The answer lies in yet another brilliant collection from Francisco Costa - the perfect way to end New York Fashion Week.

Lauren Latina. Ralph Lauren SS13
I remember a day not too long ago when I walked past a new SS12 Woolworths window, saw they were doing a Latina trend, and did three double takes (and then let out a deep sigh). I wish I could have seen my face. What that trend has to do with Spring 12 I may never understand.
Lucky for Woolworths, they seem to have been in the same mindset as the dictator of September issue fold-out ads, Ralph Lauren. Lauren added some Spain to his Latin America, wanting to explore all the exotic places he'd never been to.
The collection worked best when it was at its most dramatic. The daywear in the beginning had some "yes!" moments and some "oooooh... no" moments. You're gonna have to be really pretty to pull off a lot of these looks.
As with Michael Kors's latest, the collection really came alive in the final eveningwear pieces. These outfits deserve a lot of praise: they were sexy, stylish and had just the perfect dose of that Spain/Latin American flaire. Karlie Kloss looked AMAZING in that white shirt and maxi skirt. And the final dresses seemed to float around the model's legs like smoke, oozing out into a dramatic pool at their feet. As if they were gliding on a cloud.

Crafty Crafters. Proenza Schouler SS13
It is very difficult to describe this collection in a way that does the intense workmanship and creative genius behind it justice. Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez don't brag their brilliance, they ease you into it slowly in a way that makes you (almost) take it for granted. Not that those last dresses (a creative fashion achievement) could ever be taken for granted.
The idea was to bring together craft and technology. The show started with patchwork leathers in dresses and separates, leading into dresses that swirled around the body in a successful attempt to create a sort of static movement.
Then came the images.
The latter pieces in the show featured images that McCollough and Hernandez had randomly selected on Tumblr and given a special treatment inspired by artist Gerhard Righter. The resulting prints were interlinked at first with pannels of satin, and in the final moments of the show punctured with grommets and embellished with satin polka dots.
This show demonstrated the height of what fashion designers can achieve creatively. I look forward to seeing if anyone can surpass or even just meet this level of brilliance.

In The Clouds. Michael Kors SS13
Michael Kors was rather underwhelming. The collection was very basic and felt very autumn winter at times. That said, there were quite a few diamonds in the dull.
The diamonds included creative takes on stripes, collars, and pattern clash. There were some good menswear moments as well. But the real gems were those cloud and swimming pool print dresses. And of course those black dresses at the end - wow!
