Return Of The Peplum. Balenciaga SS13

The first look at Balenciaga was my favourite. A white bra top that had an air of strength, purity, and athleticism about it. Paired with what is now officially signature Balenciaga high waisted trousers and colour block lace ups. The look set the perfect tone for that was to come.

Peplum 2.0 skirts (just when you thought you'd seen the last of the flare) were paired with incredible crop tops that looked like they'd been folded around the models' shoulders. Hard trouser suits with those soft bra tops underneath. Bucket bags. Smart spring knits. Mini skirts. Wonderfully textured dresses. And delicate gold necklaces paired with intricate rings (for every finger) which gave this woman her timeless element.

All that and a Kristen Stewart in the front row - it was a brilliant show.

Visions Of Print And Pattern

I'm a big fan of the SS12 print-on-print trend. If you feel the same, you'll be happy to know things are evolving quite nicely into the new season. AW12, although it is more about pattern than print, showcases glorious examples of both. Here I take a very close look at my favourites: they look great on clothes, but who's to say you can't take them as inspiration for wallpaper in your room (or on your computer)?

The sky is the limit.

Mary Katrantzou is the authority here. If you disagree, it's time to get off your high horse.

Prada goes ahead and embellishes the print, either by making it 3D with beads, or a bag.

When reminiscing about their time in the outback, the Rodarte girls seem to have a visual memory.

Don't argue that a Balenciaga sweater isn't the coolest item of the season - the sci-fi geeks will shoot you down.

If Ms Versace and Mr Kane say it's okay, you can go ahead and match all the way. (Versus made you do it.)

Jump into Dolce & Gabbana's floral dream. There's a little person waiting for you...

Paint the town any colour you like in Stella McCartney's evening wear.

The Biggest Night In Fashion

When it comes to dressing up, The Met Ball is definitely the event that requires the most fashion IQ. Because unlike the Oscars or the Grammy's, this event is about fashion. This year, the exhibition being celebrated is called Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations. Naturally some of the best outfits were Prada, and although I don't have a picture of Miuccia just yet, here are the best red carpet fashion moments to keep you occupied.

Balenciaga’s AW12 Dress Code

So you want to work at Balenciaga? There’s a very important dress code to follow:

1)     The metallic strips on your sheer skirt are important to create a space-like feel to the business, which is always moving forward.
2)     Pair your structured skirt with a jacket or oversized knit.
3)     You’re encouraged to wear a graphic print on your sweater for casual Fridays but…
4)   A sharp, strong jacket is essential for the boardroom.
5)     Bright metallic pants are the perfect medium between office hours and after hours.
6)     Your dress at the Christmas party should have at least three different fabrics.

That’s all. Leave your CV if you’re still interested.
