High Point: Marc by Marc Jacobs Cruise 13

Allow me to walk you through the Marc by Marc Jacobs Cruise 13 collection. It's one of the best I've seen all year - certainly the collection with the most 'cool factor.'

Let's kick off the tour with the sporty stuff. If you had to try and describe these outfits over the phone it would probably sound like you have terrible teste - and yet they work perfectly. It's all in the styling and the attitude... This stripy coat/dress below is the gateway outfit.

These jeans take jeans to a whole new level. Denim on denim looks great with golden accents in the accessories - that bag being yet another hilight.

Here we have a little military revival. The key to keeping it fresh is adding a boho headband, Gaga-esque round sunglasses, or a sporty cape and earphones.

And then there are those shoes... No doubt inspired by Jacobs's new perfume, Dot.

Jacobs appreciates a good stripe as much as his spots. So much so that he's given the bags and scarves some bold pink kisses.

Of course the collection wouldn't be complete without something boho... Those shoes serving as a reminder that you're not to take yourself too seriously.

And finally, the most important moment of the collecton. This sweatshirt with Marc Jacobs's younger face on it makes him the third designer (after Lagerfeld and Armani) to place himself on a item of clothing. An instant collectors' item, this is just another way of reminding us of Marc's importance in the fashion world.
As usual, I can only smile and ask 'what next?'
(knowing that the answer will be nothing short of spectacular)

Blue Jeans, White Shirt, Proenza Schouler Cruise 13

The Proenza Schouler Cruise 13 collection serves as a palate cleanser from their spectacular fall collection. The guys wanted to focus on wearable retail-friendly items that would fit into a busy woman's everyday lifestyle. Here are the five looks that I believe will make you life a little more fun to live - isn't that what's fashion is all about?

The Del Rey
It's been a while since blue jeans have looked this good with a white shirt. That classic PS coat is what gives it its it factor.

A Cèline Moment
Am I the only one catching the Cèline SS12 reference here? The boys give it a punch of colour with that clutch - and the pants are a reminder that leather is very important right now.

The Smart Dress
A minimal take on those wonders they sent down the runway in February. Maybe this one is more you. It's certainly more timeless.

A Workable Alternative
This is definitely something you can wear to the office. And yet it subtly breaks all those traditional workwear rules. (like a fashion boss)

The Party Girl
Depending on how you style, this dress could go to the club or for club sandwiches with the in-laws. The choice is yours.

The New Bold. Marc Jacobs Cruise 13

Marc Jacobs's new collection meets all his usual standards: fun, oversized and over the top. Resort 2013 has climbed out of the winter's rabbit hole into a very fun, very bold, and very Marc world of florals, checks, spots, sequin stripes, bold colour, and very chunky shoes with very chunky embellishments. This season, more is Marc.

Effortless Style. Burberry Prorsum Cruise 13

Nobody is a stranger to the concept of effortless style: it's the kind of look that takes the longest to create but, if you manage to pull it off, looks like you just "threw it on." Burberry's new collection is proof that effortless style comes not with hours of deliberating the perfect ensemble, but rather with wearing classic pieces that are incredibly well designed.

Check out the stars of my favourite looks from the collection - they're beautiful, classic, will transcend into seasons to come, and will turn heads.

The Suit

This one is perfectly neutral: great for work and with a little imagination you could even take it out for a night on the town. And how about the cut on that blazer? That's the secret ingredient.

The Hybrid
I'm going to be honest and admit that I have no idea what that top is... But I love it. It looks like some sort of shirt/puffa/knit hybrid. Purchase!

The Leather Jacket
Classic and edgy is not a common combination. This jacket has that and a long string of styling possibilities.

The High-Waisted Trousers
The perfect "go anywhere and do anything" pair. And they give you a little peplum flare!

The Skirt
This skirt literally looks like you just threw it on (or wrapped it around). Excellent.

The Trench Coat
It's the Burberry signature. And if it looks like that this season, no one's complaining.

The Light Knit
Still the perfect transitional piece to bridge the seasons. Perfect for Pre Spring.

The Boyfriend Shirt
The most masculine-style item in your closet can actually be the sexiest and most feminine one of them all. See Stella McCartney for more proof.

The Cocktail Dress
This one will make you shine. Literally.

The Evening Dress
Classic, beautiful, stylish. And with a touch of edge. This dress sums up the entire collection.

US ELLE Brings It!

I was not very friendly in the last post I did about a US ELLE cover, and while I stand by what I said I am happy to say I'm a lot more optimistic this time around.

Although I am not a Selena Gomez fan at all, I must admit she looks v amazing on this July cover in a Dolce and Gabbana dress. And best of all: THE BACKGROUND IS NOT WHITE!!! I think I should celebrate. Congratulations, ELLE! Do keep it up.
