Girls On A Train: Louis Vuitton AW12

Okay. Shut the door. Shut the front door, shut the back door, shut the windows, shut the garage. If what I’ve read is to be believed, this Louis Vuitton train which was specially built for the show, took 5 months to make and actually drove into the show space with the models in the coach before the show started.

I have a childhood obsession with trains, so I think this is utterly special. I guess you can decide for yourself whether it beats the SS12 carousel, but I’m staying on team train. This sort of thing (debating which Louis Vuitton set is the best before even getting into the clothes) is a testament to the brilliance of Marc Jacobs. No matter what he does, the man has a way of transporting you to into a wonderful fantasy land.

The collection fits in very nicely between Prada and Marc Jacobs AW12. These girls, coming from the country and going to the city, have their fabulous hats, their chunky heels, their embellishments, and their unbreakable air of power.

The magic here lies in the silhouette. Yes, it’s extremely forgiving (score) but there’s something mad about it. Something that evokes that Marc Jacobs Mad Hatter feel… Well, whatever it is, it’s definitely my favourite side of the new season. All this black is great, but I find this whimsical feel to be more dynamic, more fashion.
